A personal endorsement by Peggy Natiello Human Development Consultant and author of 'The Person-Centred Approach: A passionate presence' ‘As I review the
catalogue for PCCS, with an eye toward writing an endorsement for the
program,
I am reminded of the ‘wholeness’ of Frances McDonnell and Tracey
Walshaw the
partners who design administrate and facilitate the program. Their
commitment
to the person-centred approach and its integrity, and their profound
understanding of what it takes to become a counsellor, is apparent on
every
page of this booklet. Frances and
Tracey are tireless in their efforts to enhance themselves as persons,
and,
therefore as facilitators. They consistently engage, in all their
relationships, with staff, students and other professionals in the
field with
the kind of presence that sets person-centred practice apart from many
other
approaches. I have participated with each of them in residential
meetings where
they always stand out as exceptionally gifted in their way of being
with
others. Both of these women are bright and well educated in the finer
points of
person-centeredness. Both are unwaveringly trustworthy in their
congruence, as
well as their empathy and positive regard for others. Yet, they are
very, very
different from one another in their personal traits. Tracey and
Frances offer a wonderful example for learners aspiring to be
person-centred
facilitators that this approach requires all practitioners to realize
their own
fullness of being, hone their uniqueness and individuality, and claim
their
authentic voice whilst adhering to the clear principles of
person-centeredness.
Those who enrol in PCCS will have and amazing, and amazingly different,
experience of relationship with each of these women that will certainly
foster
a growing relationship with ‘self’ an essential component of
person-centred
living and professional practice.’ |
